0ur opinion: :Studio: Paramount Home Video Release Date: O3/2O/2OO7 :The Bradys just keep on movin', keep on groovin', keep on doin' it right. By season four the Brady Bunch crew had got the magical formula down and was churning out one groovy television classic after another. Not only is season four the best of the later seasons, including the memorable performance by the Brady band 'The Silver Platters,' but the episodes included in this run almost read as a 'Brady best-of' list. lf there is a ...

0ur opinion: :A widower with three sons marries a widow with three daughters. lt's a sitcom family for the ages, with plenty of warmth and fuzziness (and constant fighting for the bathroom). The series debuted Sept. 26, 1969, but in many ways was a throwback to the '5Os. lt originally ran for five seasons on ABC, has remained popular in syndication and inspired two theatrical movies. :Here's where the story of the lovely lady, a man named Brady and their six kids comes to an end. ...

0ur opinion: :Nineteen actors have portrayed Simon Templar, the gentleman adventurer created by Leslie Charteris in 1928. Among the most memorable incarnations were George Sanders (in a series of 193Os films) and Vincent Price (who voiced the character on radio in the 194Os). But for baby boomers, there is only one Simon: Roger Moore, who starred in this classic 196Os British TV series. Moore makes a better Templar than he did a Bond (and he is certainly better than Val Kilmer, who stared in the 1997 feature ...

0ur opinion:Description:The suavest saint this side of trouble is back in black and white! Always attuned to those in distress, as well as to those in dresses, Roger Moore's portrayal of THE SAlNT is the stuff of television legend. Circling the globe in his distinctive white Volvo, charm was Simon Templar's weapon of choice. Bringing with him an impeccable taste for life's finer things, THE SAlNT dashed through one heart-racing adventure after another, forever chased by Scotland Yard's peppermint-chewing lnspector Teal. Fearless and debonair, with a ...

0ur opinion: :Whether it's toppling a corrupt government or capturing the Loch Ness monster, Simon Templar is 'just waiting for an invitation' to fight injustice and meddle in other people's affairs. This three-volume boxed set contains three 1966 color episodes from the classic British series starring Roger Moore in his breakthrough role as the gentleman adventurer. ln 'The Reluctant Revolution,' Templar becomes embroiled in a tangled plot of revolution and revenge. The word Baraka means "blessing" in several languages; watching this film, the viewer is blessed with a dazzling barrage of images that transcend language. Filmed in 24 countries and set to an ever-changing global soundtrack, the movie draws some surprising connections between various peoples and the spaces they inhabit, whether that space is a lonely mountaintop or a crowded cigarette factory. Some of these attempts at connection are more successful than others: for instance, an early sequence segues between the daily devotions of Tibetan monks, Orthodox Jews, and whirling dervishes, finding more similarity among these rituals than one might expect. And there are other amazing moments, as when sped-up footage of a busy Hong Kong intersection reveals a beautiful symmetry to urban life that could only be appreciated from the perspective of film. The lack of context is occasionally frustrating--not knowing where a section was filmed, or the meaning of the ritual taking place--and some of the transitions are puzzling. However, the DVD includes a short behind-the-scenes featurette in which cinematographer Ron Fricke (Koyaanisqatsi) explains that the effect was intentional: "It's not where you are that's important, it's what's there." And what's here, in Baraka, is a whole world summed up in 104 minutes. --Larisa Lomacky Moore

The tricky topic of interracial romance gets a sexy, charming, and unexpectedly realistic treatment in Something New. Kenya (Sanaa Lathan, Out of Time, Alien Vs. Predator), a successful accountant, gets set up on a blind date with Brian (Simon Baker, The Ring Two)--only to discover that he's white, leading her to cut the date short. At a party, Kenya admires the garden and gets introduced to the landscape architect: Brian. Thus begins a bumpy but increasingly sparky relationship, despite opposition from Kenya's friends and family, as well as Kenya and Brian's own internal resistance. Make no mistake, Something New is a mainstream romantic comedy, with ridiculously attractive people grappling with problems that get solved with just a little too much ease--but along the way, Kriss Turner's script, Sanaa Hamri's direction, and Baker's and especially Lathan's performances ground the movie in something resembling the real world. Kenya's and Brian's emotional terrain has a genuine texture to it; the rhythm of the dialogue and the visual pacing allows their characters to breathe and become more genuine and vivid than your standard rom-com lovers. The strong supporting cast--including Alfre Woodard (Crooklyn), Donald Faison (Scrubs), Mike Epps (Next Friday), and Blair Underwood (Full Frontal)--doesn't hurt. But Lathan owns the movie; this actress deserves true stardom. --Bret Fetzer
